Carpet, sofa and upholstery cleaning in Dubai: the complete guide

Carpets, sofas and mattresses in Dubai hold fine sand, dust mites and moisture that vacuuming alone does not reach. This guide explains how professional carpet and upholstery cleaning works, how to match the method to the fibre, how to dry safely in Dubai's humidity, what Dubai Municipality's indoor air and mould guidelines say about soft furnishings, and what the work costs.

In Dubai, carpet and sofa cleaning starts with identifying the fibre and testing for colour and shrinkage, then removes dry soil by vacuuming before a wet or low-moisture method, usually hot water extraction for carpets, and finishes with controlled drying. Dubai Municipality's indoor air quality guideline names dust mites on upholstered furniture or carpeting as a biological contaminant and recommends frequent vacuuming of carpets and furniture with relative humidity kept below 60 percent, and its mould guideline lists carpets, upholstery and soft furnishings among the places to inspect and calls for extensively contaminated porous materials such as carpeting to be removed rather than cleaned. Power Zone's rate card starts carpet cleaning from AED 10 per square metre and a three-seat sofa from AED 150.

Key facts

  • Dust mites: Dubai Municipality's indoor air quality guideline lists dust mites on upholstered furniture or carpeting among biological contaminants.
  • Allergen control: the same guideline recommends frequent vacuuming of carpets and furniture, alongside weekly washing of sheets.
  • Humidity: keep relative humidity below 60 percent, and 50 percent where feasible to control dust mites.
  • Mould: Dubai Municipality's mould guideline lists carpets, upholstery and soft furnishings, and the area under carpets and rugs, among the places to inspect.
  • Contaminated carpet: extensively mould-contaminated porous materials such as carpeting are removed, not cleaned, under that guideline.
  • Prices: from AED 10 per m² for standard carpet, AED 150 for a three-seat sofa and AED 100 for a single mattress, excluding VAT.

Why carpets and sofas need more than vacuuming in Dubai

Soft furnishings in Dubai work hard. Fine desert sand is abrasive, and when it is ground into carpet pile by daily footsteps it cuts fibres and dulls colour. Air conditioning runs most of the year and recirculates indoor air past carpets, rugs and sofas, so whatever they hold, from dust and skin flakes to cooking particles and pet dander, keeps returning to the room. Humidity from showers, cooking and coastal air settles into thick fabrics and underlay, and dust mites thrive in exactly those conditions. Regular vacuuming removes loose surface soil, but it does not reach the oily film that binds dirt to fibres, the deeper soil at the base of the pile, or the allergens inside cushions and mattresses.

Professional carpet and upholstery cleaning addresses what routine cleaning cannot: it identifies the fibre and construction, chooses a method the material can tolerate, removes embedded soil and residues, and dries the item quickly enough to avoid shrinkage, odour and mould. This guide covers carpets, rugs, sofas, chairs and mattresses in homes, offices and hotels. Everyday cleaning routines are covered in Power Zone's regular cleaning guide, and whole-property intensive cleaning in the deep cleaning guide.

As guidance, these documents are not carpet-cleaning manuals, but together they set the priorities a professional service should follow: remove allergens and soil without leaving excess moisture, keep humidity under control, choose products with indoor air in mind, and treat mould-affected soft furnishings as a remediation question, not a cosmetic one.

Carpet, sofa and upholstery cleaning starts with fibre identification

As guidance, identify the carpet backing, pile and upholstery fabric before selecting a cleaning method. A wool rug, synthetic office carpet, velvet sofa and leather seat do not respond identically to water or cleaning chemistry. Ask for manufacturer care labels and disclose stains, previous cleaning attempts, unstable dye, wear or loose seams. Test an inconspicuous area where the process requires it, and record any material that may not tolerate wet extraction. A contractor should distinguish loose soil removal, pre-treatment, spot work, controlled extraction and drying, rather than promising that one machine is safe on every furnishing. Dubai Municipality indoor-air guidance provides context for dust and moisture management but does not certify a particular carpet detergent or guarantee stain removal. Identify any damage before service so that subsequent colour variation can be assessed fairly.

Stain assessment and realistic upholstery outcomes

As guidance, ask when the stain occurred, what substance may be involved and whether the owner used bleach, solvents or scrubbing beforehand. The age and chemistry of a mark can change whether cleaning will remove it without altering fabric colour or texture. Photograph the current condition and agree whether the scope is a general clean, targeted treatment, odour investigation or specialist material restoration. Do not promise full removal of permanent dye transfer, bleach damage, sun fading or fibre wear. Treat a persistent damp smell as a potential moisture source requiring investigation rather than masking it with fragrance. Water-sensitive furnishings may need a method that uses less moisture or a manufacturer's approved professional service. Avoid mixing incompatible products and follow label instructions and safe ventilation requirements.

Cleaning methods compared

MethodTypical useStrengths and limits
Dry vacuuming with good filtrationAll carpets and upholstery, before any other methodRemoves loose soil and sand; does not remove bonded soil or most stains
Hot water extractionMost synthetic and many wool carpets; durable upholstery fabricsDeepest soil removal; needs controlled water volume, good extraction and drying
Low-moisture or encapsulation cleaningOffice carpet tiles, occupied spaces, maintenance between deep cleansFast drying and little disruption; less effective on heavy soil
Hand or low-moisture upholstery cleaningDelicate fabrics, velvets, items that cannot take much waterGentler; results limited on heavy soil
Dry compound cleaningWater-sensitive carpets and areas that must be back in use quicklyAlmost no moisture; depends on thorough vacuuming afterwards
Specialist rug washingHandmade wool, silk and viscose rugsOff-site washing and controlled drying; the right choice for valuable or delicate rugs

As guidance, no single method suits every item. A good technician tests an inconspicuous area first, checks the care label where there is one, and explains why the chosen method fits the fibre, the soil and the time the client can leave the item to dry.

Deep extraction, moisture control and drying

As guidance, choose extraction intensity, moisture and dwell time based on fabric construction and actual site conditions. Saturating cushions or carpet underlay may make drying difficult and contribute to odour or substrate damage, even if the surface initially looks cleaner. Protect adjoining timber, electrical outlets and sensitive furnishings before applying liquids. Confirm where wastewater will be collected and how work areas will remain safe from slipping or public access. When the fabric cannot be extracted safely, report that limitation rather than proceeding with excessive water. Dubai Municipality's indoor-air-quality guideline addresses indoor environmental conditions; the crew still needs product-specific instructions for chemistry and drying. Record the cleaned areas, any remaining marks and conditions that affect safe reuse. A touch-dry surface does not prove concealed padding is fully dry.

Drying in Dubai: AC, humidity and airflow

As guidance, drying is where carpet and sofa cleaning succeeds or fails. Fibres left damp for too long can shrink, brown at the tips, develop a sour smell or, in the worst case, support mould, which Dubai Municipality's mould guideline warns follows water and high humidity. Dubai helps and hurts at the same time: air conditioning dries the air indoors, but outdoor air is humid much of the year, so opening windows to "air out" a carpet in summer can slow drying rather than speed it. The practical approach is to keep the AC running, close windows, use air movers where available, raise cushions so air reaches both sides, and keep heavy furniture off the carpet until it is dry, with foil or blocks under any feet that must stay in place. Underlay and sofa interiors dry more slowly than the surface, so a carpet that feels dry on top may still be damp beneath.

Sofas by fabric: what each one tolerates

FabricWhat it usually needs
Synthetic blends (polyester, polypropylene)Usually tolerate low-moisture extraction well; check for oily residue from body contact on arms and headrests
MicrofibreSome are water-sensitive and leave marks; the care code and a test patch decide between water-based and solvent-based cleaning
Cotton and linenProne to shrinkage, browning and water marks; low moisture and fast drying are essential
Velvet and chenillePile can crush or mark; gentle low-moisture cleaning and brushing the pile in one direction while drying
Wool upholsterySensitive to heat and alkaline products; cool, low-moisture methods suited to wool
LeatherNot cleaned like fabric; specialist leather cleaning and conditioning, and repair of cracks or colour loss is separate restoration work

These are typical behaviours offered as guidance; dyes, backings and finishes vary between manufacturers, which is why the test patch comes first. Detachable cushion covers should not be machine washed unless the label allows it, because covers can shrink and no longer fit the foam.

Mattresses and dust mites

Dubai Municipality's indoor air quality guideline lists dust mites on upholstered furniture or carpeting among biological contaminants, and its allergen advice, weekly washing of sheets and frequent vacuuming of furniture, applies most directly to beds. As guidance, a mattress collects skin flakes, sweat and moisture every night, which is exactly what dust mites feed on. Professional mattress cleaning vacuums both sides with a high-filtration vacuum, treats stains with a low-moisture method, and leaves the mattress to dry fully before bedding goes back on, because a damp mattress under a sheet stays damp. Between cleans, washing bedding weekly, using a washable mattress protector, and keeping bedroom humidity below 60 percent do more than any single treatment. Power Zone's rate card lists single mattress cleaning from AED 100, double or queen from AED 150 and king from AED 180.

Rugs: wool, silk, viscose and handmade

As guidance, rugs are where the wrong method does the most damage. Machine-made synthetic rugs can usually be cleaned on site like carpet. Wool rugs tolerate careful wet cleaning, but their dyes need testing first, especially reds and dark blues. Silk and viscose, often sold as "art silk" or "bamboo silk", are very different: viscose loses strength when wet, yellows and stiffens, and can be permanently distorted by ordinary extraction, so it needs a specialist approach or off-site rug washing. Handmade rugs with cotton foundations can shrink or brown if they stay wet. Fringes are part of the foundation, not decoration, and need gentle handling. When a rug is valuable or of unknown fibre, a burn or label test by the cleaner, or a specialist rug washer, is safer than guessing.

Stain first aid before the cleaner arrives

As guidance, what happens in the first minutes after a spill decides how much a professional can later remove. Blot, do not rub: rubbing spreads the stain and distorts the pile. Remove solids with a spoon or blunt edge. Use cool water rather than hot, which can set protein stains such as blood, milk or egg. Avoid bleach, strong household cleaners and colour-safe sprays on wool, silk or unknown fabrics, and test anything on a hidden spot first. Do not over-wet: a soaked patch spreads into the underlay or cushion and comes back as a ring when it dries. For oil, ink, paint, wax and old stains, it is usually better to leave the stain dry and tell the cleaner what it is, because the wrong home treatment can make a removable stain permanent.

Pets, odours and accidents

As guidance, pet accidents are the most common reason carpets and sofas smell after cleaning. Urine travels down into the backing, underlay and sometimes the floor beneath, so cleaning only the surface leaves the source behind and the smell returns as soon as humidity rises. A proper treatment finds the extent of the contamination, uses an enzyme or odour-neutralising treatment suited to the fibre, and extracts thoroughly; in severe cases underlay may need replacing. Pet hair needs more frequent vacuuming with good filtration, which also helps with the allergens the indoor air quality guideline describes. Odour products that only mask smells should not be presented as a solution.

Water damage and mould in carpets and sofas

Dubai Municipality's Technical Guideline for Mold Remediation and Control (DM-HSD-GU142-MRC2) notes that mould is commonly found on upholstery among other materials, lists carpets, upholstery and soft furnishings and the area under carpets or rugs in its inspection checklists, and requires extensively contaminated porous materials such as carpeting to be removed, while salvageable materials are cleaned by HEPA vacuuming and damp wiping without excessive water. It also classes contamination larger than 100 square feet as Level 3, where professional remediation is necessary.

As guidance, this draws a clear line for carpet and sofa cleaning. After a leak, a flooded balcony or an AC drain overflow, the first job is to stop the water and dry the area quickly. If mould has already grown into carpet, underlay or upholstery, ordinary cleaning is not the answer: the material may need to be removed and the cause of the moisture fixed, as Power Zone's mould removal guide explains. Cleaning a mouldy carpet and putting it back only moves the problem.

Common problems after cleaning and what causes them

ProblemUsual cause
Stain reappears as the carpet dries (wicking)Soil or spill deep in the backing or underlay rises with the moisture; needs controlled extraction and drying from below
Brown tips or browningOver-wetting, slow drying or alkaline products on natural fibres such as wool, cotton or jute backings
Rapid re-soilingSticky detergent residue left in the fibres attracts new dirt; needs proper rinsing and less product
Shrinkage or ripplingToo much water on natural fibres or poorly fitted carpet; low moisture and correct drying prevent it
Colour bleedingUnstable dyes not tested before cleaning, common in some handmade rugs
Musty smellCarpet, underlay or cushion stayed damp too long; drying conditions and moisture source must be checked
Fuzzing or pile distortionAggressive brushing or the wrong method for the fibre, especially on viscose and loop pile

These are typical cause-and-effect patterns offered as guidance; a professional cleaner should explain which risks apply to a specific item before starting, not after.

Majlis seating, floor cushions and outdoor fabrics

As guidance, many Dubai homes have majlis seating and large floor cushions that get heavy use during gatherings and then sit unused for weeks. Their covers are often thick, decorative fabrics with metallic threads or embroidery that need low-moisture cleaning and a test patch, and their foam bases take a long time to dry if over-wetted. Covers that are removable should only be washed if the label allows it. Outdoor cushions and pergola fabrics face a different problem: sun fading, sand and bird droppings. Brushing off sand before cleaning, using fabric-safe cleaners, drying fully before storage and storing cushions indoors during the hottest months extend their life considerably.

Curtains and blinds

As guidance, curtains act as large dust filters in Dubai homes, and they are easy to forget. Fabric curtains can be vacuumed with a brush attachment during routine cleaning. Deeper cleaning depends on the label: some can be washed, many are dry clean only, and lined or blackout curtains can shrink unevenly if washed, leaving the lining pulling the face fabric. On-site steam or low-moisture cleaning avoids taking curtains down but is not suitable for every fabric. Fabric roller and vertical blinds collect dust on their slats and are usually cleaned in place. As with sofas, a test on a hidden area and the care label decide the method.

Protecting carpets and sofas between cleans

As guidance, most of the damage to carpets in Dubai is done by sand brought in on shoes, so the simplest protection starts at the door: a good entrance mat outside, another inside, and shoes off where the household is willing. Rotating rugs every few months spreads wear and sun exposure. Window film or blinds reduce fading on carpets and sofas in sunny rooms. Vacuuming frequently with good filtration, as Dubai Municipality's indoor air quality guideline recommends for allergen control, removes sand before it grinds into the pile. Arm covers and throws on sofas protect the areas that soil fastest, and they are easier to wash than the sofa itself.

Fabric protectors and stain-resist treatments

As guidance, fabric protectors applied after cleaning help spills bead on the surface for long enough to be blotted up, and slow down soiling on light fabrics. They are not a guarantee: they do not stop stains that are left to soak in, they wear away with use and cleaning, and they must be suitable for the fibre. A cleaner who offers a protector should say what it is, how long it lasts and how it affects future cleaning. For households with young children or pets, washable covers and throws are often more practical than relying on a treatment alone.

Equipment that makes a difference

As guidance, the results of carpet cleaning depend heavily on equipment. A strong vacuum with good filtration matters because Dubai Municipality's indoor air quality guideline lists vacuuming among activities that release particles indoors; poor filtration throws fine dust back into the room. In mould situations, its mould remediation guideline specifies HEPA vacuums. Extraction machines differ in how much water they put down and how much they recover, which decides drying time and the risk of wicking and shrinkage. Air movers speed drying safely. Upholstery tools need to be suited to delicate fabrics. Asking what equipment will be used is a fair question, and a good cleaner will answer it plainly.

Cleaning products and indoor air

Dubai Municipality's indoor air quality guideline lists cleaning agents among indoor sources of chemical compounds, alongside items such as upholstered furniture cushions and carpeting. As guidance, that is a reason to use the minimum effective amount of product, rinse it out rather than leaving residue, keep the AC running and the space ventilated while it dries, and choose low-odour or fragrance-free products where children, pets or sensitive occupants are present. Residue is also a practical problem: detergent left in fibres attracts dirt, so a carpet cleaned with too much product looks dirty again quickly. A professional cleaner should be able to name the products used and why they suit the fibre.

Hotels, serviced apartments and holiday homes

As guidance, carpets and upholstery in short-stay properties are cleaned under time pressure between guests, so routine spot cleaning and low-moisture methods carry the day-to-day load, and deeper extraction is scheduled for quiet periods when rooms can stay empty until dry. Dubai Municipality's holiday home guideline requires overall cleanliness of rooms and facilities and towels and bed linen changed after each use; mattress protectors and washable throws make that easier to achieve between professional cleans. A record of when each room's carpets, sofas and mattresses were last professionally cleaned helps plan the next cycle and answer guest complaints with evidence.

Wall-to-wall carpet versus loose rugs

As guidance, fitted carpet and loose rugs need different handling even when they are the same fibre. Fitted carpet is cleaned in place, so drying depends on the room and the underlay, and water must be controlled so it does not reach the subfloor or the gripper strips at the edges. Loose rugs can be lifted, so the floor beneath can be cleaned, the back of the rug inspected for damage or insects, and the rug dried with air reaching both sides, or taken away for specialist washing. Rugs laid on fitted carpet transfer dye and moisture to the carpet beneath if they are put back damp. Dubai Municipality's mould guideline includes the area under carpets or rugs in its inspection checklist, which is a reminder to look underneath, not only on top.

Stairs, landings and high-traffic areas

As guidance, carpet on stairs and landings in villas wears faster than anywhere else in the home, because every step pivots on the nosing and grinds sand into the same small area. These areas show soiling first and benefit from more frequent professional attention than bedrooms. Stair cleaning is slower work, done by hand tools rather than large machines, so it is often priced separately. Loose or worn carpet on stair nosings is a trip hazard and should be repaired rather than cleaned and left. In corridors and entrances, a strip of low-moisture maintenance cleaning between full cleans keeps the traffic lane from looking different from the rest of the carpet.

Leather sofas: cleaning versus restoration

As guidance, leather is skin, not fabric, and it is cleaned and conditioned rather than extracted with water. Routine care is dusting, wiping with a slightly damp cloth, and occasional cleaning and conditioning with products made for the leather type, keeping the sofa out of direct sun and away from AC vents that dry it out. Pigmented leather tolerates more than aniline or nubuck, which mark easily and need specialist products. Cracks, colour loss, peeling and torn seams are restoration or reupholstery work, not cleaning, which Power Zone's furniture refurbishment and upholstery guide covers. A cleaner who promises that cleaning will remove cracks or restore faded colour is overpromising.

Children's rooms, play areas and soft furnishings

As guidance, children spend more time close to the floor than adults, so the carpet or play mat in a child's room matters more. Frequent vacuuming with good filtration, washing bedding weekly as Dubai Municipality's indoor air quality guideline recommends for allergen control, and keeping humidity below 60 percent all apply here first. When carpets or sofas in these rooms are professionally cleaned, products should be rinsed out thoroughly and the room ventilated and dry before children use it again. Soft toys, cushions and play mats are best washed according to their labels rather than treated with carpet products.

Preparing for a carpet and sofa cleaning visit

As guidance, a little preparation shortens the visit and improves the result. Clear small items, toys and fragile objects from the floor and furniture; tell the team which items need cleaning and point out stains and their causes where known; mention pets, allergies and any sensitive members of the household; make sure water and power are available near the rooms; and plan for the rooms to be out of use while drying. In towers, check parking and service lift arrangements for the team's equipment. After the visit, follow the drying advice given on site and keep traffic off damp carpet.

Dining chairs, headboards and fixed upholstery

As guidance, some of the most-used upholstery in a home is not the sofa. Fabric dining chairs collect food and drink spills and body oils on seats and backs, and are best cleaned with a low-moisture method so the seat foam and timber frame do not stay wet. Upholstered headboards gather dust and hair oils at head height and are cleaned in place, with care around the wall behind them. Built-in banquettes in kitchens, cafes and majlis rooms, and fabric wall panels in hotels and offices, cannot be moved to dry, so the water put down must be minimal and the room ventilated with the AC running. Each of these items is listed separately in a good quotation, because the time and method differ from a standard sofa.

Office carpets, hotel upholstery and occupied properties

As guidance, commercial carpet or sofa cleaning requires coordination with occupancy, deliveries, access and room release times. Map zones so that sensitive offices, hotel guest rooms and public routes are not reopened before the surfaces can be used safely. Where cleaning products are used, communicate ventilation and temporary access arrangements and protect important files or equipment against moisture. For a hotel or holiday home, distinguish the routine room turnover from a deep upholstery extraction requiring additional drying and inspection. Maintain a register by room, upholstery type, date, observed wear, cleaning approach and complaint history. Recurring stains at one entrance may need matting or operational change rather than repeated intensive cleaning. Contract language should clarify who moves furniture and what items are excluded.

Offices: carpet tiles, chairs and traffic lanes

As guidance, office carpets wear in predictable lanes: entrances, corridors, around desks and in front of pantries. A sensible office programme combines daily vacuuming of traffic areas, low-moisture maintenance cleaning of those lanes every few weeks or months depending on footfall, and deeper extraction of the whole floor once or twice a year, scheduled out of hours so carpets are dry by the next working day. Carpet tiles have an advantage: badly stained or worn tiles can be replaced individually, which is often cheaper than repeated cleaning of one spot. Office chairs collect body oils on arms and seats and need their own cleaning cycle. Power Zone's rate card lists office carpet cleaning from AED 8 per square metre and office chair cleaning from AED 35 per chair.

How often: a cleaning frequency guide

ItemRoutine careProfessional cleaning
Home carpets and rugsVacuum weekly, more often where sand comes inProfessional deep clean once or twice a year
Homes with pets, children or allergy sufferersVacuum several times a week with good filtrationProfessional clean two to four times a year
Sofas and chairs at homeVacuum during routine cleaningProfessional clean once or twice a year, or when soiled
MattressesWash bedding weekly; vacuum the mattress when changing sheetsProfessional clean once or twice a year
Office carpetsVacuum traffic areas dailyLow-moisture maintenance of traffic lanes; full extraction once or twice a year
Hotels and holiday homesVacuum at every turnoverProfessional cleaning on a schedule set by occupancy, plus spot cleaning

These frequencies are offered as guidance; the routine care column follows Dubai Municipality's advice on frequent vacuuming and weekly washing of bedding, and the professional intervals depend on use, sand exposure and how the item looks.

Move-out carpet cleaning and tenancies

Under Article 21 of Dubai's Law No. 26 of 2007 on landlords and tenants, a tenant must hand the property back in the condition it was received, except for ordinary wear and tear or damage due to causes beyond the tenant's control. As guidance, that makes carpets and furnished-apartment sofas a frequent point of discussion at move-out: soiling and stains from use can be cleaned, while normal wear from years of footsteps cannot, and the law treats the two differently. A dated move-in condition report with photos of carpets and upholstery, and a receipt for professional cleaning at move-out, are the simplest evidence for both sides. Power Zone's snagging inspection guide explains how condition reports are structured.

Upholstery cleaning quotations and quality review

As guidance, request an itemised quote listing the number of sofa seats or carpet areas, fabric details, accessible surfaces, chosen methods, stain attempts, drying arrangements and any furniture moving or protective handling. Confirm whether curtains, mattresses, leather repair and permanent stain treatment are within scope, rather than bundling unlike services into one ambiguous price. At completion, review the condition with the client, photograph any remaining pre-existing stains and explain the cleaning and aftercare performed. No fixed time for complete drying should be guaranteed without material and environmental observations. Power Zone lists carpet, sofa and upholstery cleaning as a service; starting prices are published on the Dubai rate card, and the final quote reflects the condition, dimensions, location and safe cleaning method.

Questions to ask a carpet and sofa cleaner

As guidance, these questions show whether a cleaner will protect the items or gamble with them:

  1. How will you identify the fibre, and will you test colour and shrinkage first?
  2. Which method will you use for each item, and why that one?
  3. How long will each item take to dry, and what should we do meanwhile?
  4. Which stains do you expect to remove, and which may only lighten?
  5. What products will you use, and are they suitable for children, pets and indoor air?
  6. What happens if an item shrinks, bleeds colour or is damaged during cleaning?

Frequently asked questions

Does Dubai Municipality say anything about dust mites in carpets?

Its indoor air quality guideline lists dust mites on upholstered furniture or carpeting among biological contaminants and recommends frequent vacuuming of carpets and furniture.

What humidity helps control dust mites?

Dubai Municipality's indoor air quality guideline advises relative humidity below 60 percent, and 50 percent where feasible to control dust mites.

Can a mouldy carpet be cleaned?

Dubai Municipality's mould guideline calls for extensively contaminated porous materials such as carpeting to be removed; only salvageable materials are cleaned, and the moisture source must be fixed.

How long does a carpet take to dry after cleaning in Dubai?

As guidance, it depends on the fibre, method and room conditions; keep the AC running, windows closed in humid weather and air moving, and check the underlay as well as the surface.

Is hot water extraction safe for every carpet?

No. Most synthetic and many wool carpets tolerate it, but viscose, some silks and water-sensitive rugs need low-moisture or specialist washing.

Can viscose or art silk rugs be cleaned at home?

As guidance, they are risky to wet clean on site because viscose weakens and distorts when wet; specialist rug washing is safer.

Should I rub a fresh stain?

No. Blot, remove solids, use cool water sparingly and test any product on a hidden spot; rubbing spreads the stain and damages the pile.

How often should sofas be professionally cleaned?

As guidance, once or twice a year in most homes, more often with pets, children or allergies, alongside regular vacuuming.

Do I have to clean the carpets when I move out of a rented flat in Dubai?

Law No. 26 of 2007 requires the property back in the condition received except ordinary wear and tear; cleaning removes soiling, while normal wear is treated differently.

Why does my carpet smell after cleaning?

As guidance, usually because contamination such as pet urine reached the backing or underlay, or because the carpet stayed damp too long while drying.

Can wool and synthetic carpets be cleaned with the same process?

Not automatically. Check fibre, backing, dye stability and manufacturer instructions before choosing a cleaning method.

Can every permanent stain be completely removed?

No. Dye transfer, bleach damage or fibre wear may not be reversible by ordinary cleaning.

Does a carpet feeling dry mean the underlay is fully dry?

Not necessarily. Subsurface padding can retain moisture; record drying conditions and limitations.

Can upholstery extraction be done during hotel guest turnover?

The method and drying time may require additional room closure beyond normal turnover.

Is leather restoration included in sofa cleaning?

Not automatically. Separate material repair or specialist treatments in the quote.

What is a good upholstery service record?

As guidance, include fabric type, area, stains, method, conditions, date and outstanding issues.

How much does sofa cleaning cost in Dubai?

Power Zone's rate card lists a three-seat sofa from AED 150, a five-seat sofa from AED 220 and an L-shaped sofa from AED 250, excluding VAT.

How much does carpet cleaning cost in Dubai?

From AED 10 per square metre for standard carpet, AED 15 for heavy soil and AED 8 for office carpet, excluding VAT, on Power Zone's rate card.

Why does a stain come back after cleaning?

As guidance, usually wicking: soil or a spill deep in the backing or underlay rises as the carpet dries, so it needs thorough extraction and fast drying.

Are fabric protectors worth it?

As guidance, they help spills bead long enough to blot and slow soiling, but they wear off and do not stop stains left to soak in.

Can fabric dining chairs be cleaned without removing the seats?

As guidance, yes, with a low-moisture method so the foam and timber frame do not stay wet; heavily soiled seats may need covers removed where possible.

Does Power Zone offer carpet and sofa cleaning?

Yes. The service is listed, with scope and price dependent on survey and material.
